Benefits of Rosehip Oil for the Skin
Rosehip oil has been used for generations. Rosehips were a remedy that was used by the ancient Egyptians, Mayans and Native Americans all because of their healing and restorative properties. Its curative and cosmetic properties were a well-kept secret of the Indigenous People of Chile for centuries.
Rosehip seed oil is full of vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids that are known to rejuvenate the skin to the deepest layers of epidermis and hence used to correct dark spots and hydrate dry, itchy skin, all while reducing scars and fine lines. Rosehip seed oil leaves the skin feeling velvety soft. It is termed as a 'Dry Oil' because it doesn't leave any heavy feeling on your skin and because it absorbs very quickly without leaving any residue. It is deeply nourishing and hydrating and makes for one of the best 'Facial Oils' and is my personal favourite too. Our reasons for including Rosehip oil in our formulations are owing to its following properties:
Skin Rejuvenation: Rosehip's Vitamin A & fatty acids, accelerates the pace of regeneration and repair. It is known to promote healthy skin rejuvenation, which causes skin to glow and appear fresh and supple. The rejuvenating properties of rosehip works on all skin types - Dry, normal, oily, sun damaged or mature skin. In fact, it is one of the most powerful skin generators known to man.
Reduces Scarring: Rosehip oil works like magic on scars. No matter how old the scars might or how they might have been caused - Acne or chickenpox or a surgery or an accident. Rosehip significantly improves the appearance and smooths out the skin to regain its softness and smoothness.
Pigment Reduction: The Vitamin C in rosehip oil reduces the appearance of dark spots, ageing spots and hyper pigmentation. With the ability to produce melanin rosehip oil helps correct skin problems due to overexposure to the sun, including sunspots. It also evens the skin tone around the body and removes hyperpigmentation and melasma, chloasma and lentigines.
Stimulates collagen: Its effects are not only confined to the epidermis but it can also transcend deeper layers of the skin where it reinvigorates fibroblasts, skin cells that produce collagen and elastin responsible for the firmness and elasticity of the skin and connective tissue, and very involved, as we shall see in the appearance of stretch marks.
Improves Complexion: Rosehip oils helps in boosting the radiance of the skin. And this is because of the nutrient dense content of the oil and its ability to reach deeper level of the skin. Not only this, rosehip oil helps with the circulation, which boost the flow of oxygen avilable to the skin and hence the skin radiates beautifully.
Enhances Hydration: Rosehip oil’s ceramides reinforces the barrier inside the epidermal cells thus reducing water loss from the skin. In addition, its high level of penetration also affects skin changes that promote deep hydration of the skin, especially areas prone to wrinkles or rough spots.
Fights aging: This oil nourishes and hydrates the cells. When used daily, it helps remove deep wrinkles and delays the onset of other lines. It also prevents the signs of photoaging due to self-generation properties of melanin. The skin regains its freshness and vigor and it erases unsightly dark circles and bags.
In a nutshell, Rosehip oil can be used for the following skin concerns:
· Wrinkles
· Scarring from Burns
· Stretch Marks
· Pigmentation
· Dry and Sensitive Skin
· Sun Damage
· Acne and Acne Scarring
It is a wonderful oil for facial skin as it is all in one - great for acne prone skin, reduces the scarring and the spots, anti-wrinkle, reduces the age and sun spots, restores the lost radiance of the skin and soothes irritated and angry skin.
